Who We Are
Riverside Cancer Care Center participates in the Every Woman's Life program, a public health program sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health that helps uninsured, low income women gain access to the free cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates and improve treatment options.
To be eligible, women must be a Virginia resident between the ages of 50-64, meet federal income guidelines and be uninsured. A limited number of screenings can also be provided to women age 40-49. Effective July 1, 2006, the Virginia General Assembly approved funding to provide diagnostic testing to eligible women between the ages of 18-39 who have symptoms of breast or cervical cancer.
In some sites where EWL services are offered, women can also be screened for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose and also learn how to become more physically active, eat healthier foods, and more. For detailed information about eligibility guidelines for EWL program and to find a screening provider site, go to http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/ofhs/Prevention/ewl/provider.htm.
