Who We Are
The Stafford County Health Department participates in the Every Woman's Life program, a public health program sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health that helps uninsured, low-income women gain access to free cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates and improve treatment options.
To be eligible, a woman must be a Virginia resident between the ages of 50-64, meet federal income guidelines and be uninsured. Screenings can also be provided to women aged 40-49 if they have symptoms or are considered high risk.
Call Every Woman's Life toll-free referral line at 866-EWL-4YOU (866-395-4968) to find your nearest screening.
In some sites where EWL services are offered, women can also be screened for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose and also learn how to become more physically active, eat healthier foods, and more. For detailed information about eligibility guidelines for the EWL program and to find a screening provider site, please call the health department or visit the website.
