Psychiatric Medication Management

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board provides psychiatric medication management to its consumers. After an initial assessment, consumers may be seen by a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist will evaluate the consumer's need for medication and provide a prescription if necessary. A nurse will help consumers understand how to take and use their medicine. The nurse will also tell consumers about any side effects of the medicine and answer their questions. Upon request, family members may learn how to assist consumers with their medication.
