Mountain Laurel Cancer Support and Resource Center (MLC)

The Mountain Laurel Cancer Center Support and Resource Center (MLC) is dedicated to providing personalized cancer support and resources in a community-based, welcoming, and private environment, offering holistic help to cancer patients, survivors, their families, friends, and caregivers. Through a partnership with the University of Virginia Cancer Center's Cancer Center Without Walls initiative, the MLC trains community health workers, or navigators, who provide information on prevention, early detection, treatment and resources to members of their communities. Through funds established by the families of cancer patients who lost their fight with cancer, the MLC provides liquid nutritional supplements and financial assistance for travel for diagnosis, treatment and surgery as well as for other unforeseen expenses that attend a diagnosis of cancer.  These funds include the Ruben Lovell Memorial Fund and the Harold Lester Memorial Fund.
