Substance Abuse Services, Guinan Center

The Guinan Center, of the Alleghany Highlands Community Services Board, offers a supervised, structured, full day program for individuals who have problems related to substance abuse. Participants need treatment that is more intensive than an outpatient program, but do not require 24 hour hospital care and are currently sober.

Following an assessment individuals are assigned to a program that is the most beneficial to their individual needs. Those groups might be Individual Counseling, Education Group, Intensive Outpatient Group, Aftercare Group, Transitions Group, or Alcohol and Drug Free Work Place Services. Family Counseling is provided for family members and significant others who are experiencing problems of substance abuse within their family or personal relationships. Referral Services are provided for individuals in the chronic stages of dependence who require detoxification and or medical treatment in an acute setting and for other needed services not provided by the staff of Substance Abuse Services. Case management, drug and alcohol testing, and prevention services are also available.
